The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime initially created by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight loss diet, however many zone diet fans discover that they actually seem to lose body weight by following it.
The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts your body in a state of balance that is far more healthful than usual, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is perfectly balanced and, as a result, doesn't need to build up stores of fat.
The main process of the zone system is to control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils.

1/2 lb Carrots, small

8 oz Asparagus spears, frozen

1 x Lemon pepper (dash)

1/8 c Lemon juice

. Wash, trim, and peel samll carrots. Place carrots in a steamer basket above boiling water. Cover and steam about 15 minutes or till crisp- tender. Rinse carrots in cold water; drain. Meanwhile, cook frozen asparagus spears according to package. Rinse asparagus in cold water; drain. Cover and chill drained carrots and asparagus. To serve, arrange carrots and asparagus on a platter. Sprinkle with a little lemon juice and lemon pepper. BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS
