Put simply, the low-cal diet depends on the fact that if you intend to become thinner, it is essential to injest less calories than you burn up.

So what is a calorie?
A calorie is a unit of measurement for energy. The food calorie is the the energy required to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at normal atmospheric pressure. If your meal contains more calories, then it will provide your body with more energy when your body burns it.

Low-cal food types include broccoli, tomatoes, water melon, beef based meals, and eggs.

1pklasagna noodles, (8oz)
1poundmild pork sausage
1eachjar (32oz) spaghetti sauce
1eachegg, slightly beaten
12ozricotta cheese
1tablespoondried parsley flakes
2teaspoondried whole oregano
1/4cupgrated parmesan cheese
3cupmozzarella cheese *
2ozsliced mushrooms, drained
1pkpepperoni, (3 1/2oz), sliced

Directions:

* Shredded and divided Cook lasagna noodles according to package
directions, omitting salt, and then drain.

Cook sausage until browned,
Stirring to crumble; drain. Stir spaghetti sauce into sausage, and set
aside. Combine egg and next five ingredients, stirring well. Spread about
1/2 cup meat sauce in a lightly greased 13x9x2 inch baking dish. Layer half of
the noodles, half of ricotta cheese mixture, one-third of mozzarella
cheese, and one-third of remaining meat sauce; repeat layers using equal
amounts. Arrange mushrooms and pepperoni slices on top. Bake at 375? for 20
mins. Sprinkle with remaining cheese, and bake an additional five mins.
