General tips

Kitchen Tip : Even though they are like magnets for spills, keep stovetop reflectors clean. They will reflect heat better and save energy. If you need new ones, buy quality. The best on the market can save as much as 1/3 of the energy used with inferior reflectors.

Buy Local Food : Strawberries, blueberries and many other kinds of fruit often are available from farms that allow you to do the harvesting (or not, if you prefer to pay for the cost of picking). Many fruits are easy to freeze, and apples will keep all winter in a cool corner of the garage.

Diet types

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst allowing many of the foods you love, such as bacon and hard cheeses.
With this diet you eat protein and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, weight loss program.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.
