Food tips

Buy Local Food : Strawberries, blueberries and many other kinds of fruit often are available from farms that allow you to do the harvesting (or not, if you prefer to pay for the cost of picking). Many fruits are easy to freeze, and apples will keep all winter in a cool corner of the garage.

Buy Local Food : ...but at the same time, figure out what makes sense. It is more energy efficient to raise lambs in New Zealand and ship them to the UK than to raise them in the UK, because New Zealand lamb farming is more energy efficient. It is also more energy efficient to buy produce raised in Spain, than produce that has to be grown in greenhouses in the UK. Baby steps require figuring out which things make sense and which don't.

Losing weight

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it enables weight loss but still allows you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example fatty meat and butter.
With this diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, weight loss program.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.
