Food tips

Buy Local Food : Take a child shopping with you, pick up one of the offending products and say quite loudly "Well we’re not buying that, think of the energy it’s used up just getting here!"

Try Eating Raw Food : You need a balance of three basic food groups as most of your diet:
  • sweet fruits (apples, oranges, berries, melons, etc.)
  • green leaves (dark lettuce, kale, collards, spinach, etc.)
  • raw plant fats (avocados, olives & their oil, coconuts & their oil, nuts & seeds, durian)
  • Eat lots of sweet fruit, lots of green leaves, and some fat (as dressing, pâté, hummus, etc.). Add vegetables as desired, and sprouted grains and legumes occasionally. Try fruit for breakfast and snacks; greens, veggies and fat for lunch and dinner.

Buying an Oven : If you need to purchase a gas oven or range, look for one with an automatic, electric ignition system. An electric ignition saves gas-because a pilot light is not burning continuously.

in a collection of 33 butter cakes, and their frostings and fillings from an old pamphlet left by my mother-in-law, Mrs. Mae Keller. Soon I will be working with the balance of the pamphlet. I hope you have all enjoyed these recipes as much as I have enjoyed sharing them with you. Note: I have posted 51 recipes in the Kate Smith Collection. If anyone is collecting these recipes, and does not have 51, you can advise me which ones you do have, and I will be happy to post any that you are missing. 11/29/91 4:49 PM
